The gaming world is getting ready to participate in a global competition of an alternate reality puzzle game. The prize of the game is 1 million Bitcoin and players across the world are creating teams to participate in the treasure hunt which is named as “Satoshi’s Treasure.”
A cryptic message was published on the Blockstream satellite on April 13th which challenged all would-be players across the world to participate in the treasure hunt which would test participant’s courage, knowledge, intelligence, and resolve.
The tournament has hidden overall 1,000 parts of one private key around the world, and participants need at least 400 of those parts to move the funds. Players can make teams, undertake hunts; they can also sell the key parts they have found. The treasure hunt has no particular set of rules. All users have to do is use their common sense and do all it takes to find the parts of the key.
The tournament has cleared a few things:
The parts of the key are not hidden inside private property.
Participants are not allowed to enter private areas unless they are invited.
No need to destruct any property.
If the hunter decides to destroy the key to stop others from reaching it, all the parts of the keys found by him be would be displayed to the other participants to claim them.
A team of 20 people creates the game. One of these members is Eric Meltzer who is the co-founder of Primitive Ventures. He has also contributed to the total treasure hunt prize amount. Along with him, co-creator of Zcash is also involved. No one knows the name of the remaining 18 members; this is done to make sure that nobody knows all the locations of the key parts.
The first clue given to the treasure hunters is out, and it is indicating satellites, it says:
“These locations can be discovered by monitoring the output of the primitive orbitals known in your time as GALAXY18, EUTELSAT 113, TELSTAR 11N, and TELSTAR18V at 1 PM EST, April 14th in the year 2019,” the clue reads. People have responded to this clue overwhelmingly. Meltzer said that people arrived at the spots the clue was indicating. Some drove for hours to reach the spot. Some people have managed to read encrypted messages and solved the clues without having a need to be present personally.
He said that people are already excited now; they forming groups/forums, discussing the next possible clue or the value of the key part they have found.
Next clue would be revealed on Sundays. Participants can sign up for free to be a part of this treasure hunt.
